Hey folks... I figured there might be some interest for this in this forum - if I chose the wrong forum to post this I apologize.

I'm currently a player in a 3.5 edition D&D campaign being run in Second Life, and we are looking for more players (we have a DM already). In particular we really need people who can show up to game sessions reliably every week. We play from 5pm to 9pm Pacific time (GMT-8:00) on most Saturdays. The DM says it is ok for people to be new to D&D or not experts at it. The main criteria is that people arrive to the planned sessions.

Second Life is an online virtual world (see http://secondlife.com) which is free to use. We are playing D&D in the manner of a virtual tabletop with virtual miniatures, dungeon tiles / battle grids, and virtual dice.

The DM is running the "Age of Worms" campaign series from Dungeon magazine. We have just gotten through Chapter 1 so it is still early in the campaign.

If anyone is interested just install Second Life and contact Elanor Glass in Second Life via IM. She'll go into more detail about house rules and character creation.

If you need help getting in touch with the DM or have any questions about Second Life just let me know.

D&D seems awesome, except Baldur's Gate.

Dark Alliance 2 is what I meant.

Ah, you should have been clearer, BG1 is the game that got me into D&D. I have rather strong feelings about it.

Alas, I play D&D 3.5, but I have a regular group that I play with in person already. :(

Ah yes - an in person game is certainly preferrable. I'm hoping to get such a group going sometime too but for now online is how I'm getting my D&D fix. :)

Well feel free to spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested.

As for Baldur's Gate 1 - definitely a classic! I remember it fondly and remember how it paved the way for a new era of computer RPGs. I never played BG 2 so I'm not sure how that stacks up.

Both of the original Baldur's Gate PC games are very good. My favorite character is Minsk and his miniature giant space hamster Boo.

RedMage was referring to the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games for Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube... ok games, the first is better than the second.

Oh! Ok - I was referring to the PC version - I didn't know they were talking about the console game. I have very little experience with Dark Alliance but what I saw seemed like a much different beast than the PC Baldur's Gate. It looked fun in its own way though.

Anyway, yeah Minsk was great from what I remember. I should give that game another run sometime.

"Camaraderie, adventure, and steel on steel. The stuff of legend! Right Boo?"
"Go for the eyes, Boo, GO FOR THE EYES! RAAAAAAAAAAAURGH!! !"

I've been playing that game for seven years, when my CD's wear out, I'll buy them again.
Even better then the games themselves is the IE modding community that's sprung up around them, people have expanded the game's content by four or five hundred percent.
