When any of you watch a DVD on the computer, or on a good television, do any of you notice parts where's the audio has quite a bit of flutter to it, or there's a fixed-noise pattern on the screen from the not so great computer equipment being used to encode the video.

I do and sometimes it bugs the heck out of me.

you mean the brownish/green/red/etc artfacts in scenes with lot of darkness in them ? keep meaning to try to screen cap the effect but it happens rarely

I was watching Back to the Future II and on parts of the movie you can see vertical banding that runs through the whole picture. And in other spots, audio gets really fluttery. I've noticed fluttery audio in just about every DVD I've ever watched that has AC-3 encoding on it.

on a computer, not all dvd player programs are created equal. Also, it can have alot to do with your sound/graphics, and the raw power of your cpu for decoding the dvd.
