My Poem, "The Ape-Man"
Page 1 of 1 [ 1 post ]
Watching a man one day,
An ape saw a challenge before him
Two at this game could play
He thought, and took it on on a whim
Man stood taller than he
So, with a stick, Ape became upright
Man could cut down a tree
Ape severed many branches outright
Man could create a fire
And Ape saw, stole a brand of his own
But could not build a pyre
Though the process of it had been shown
Then Man would cook his food
Ape killed a bird, imitated him
But his attempts were crude;
He could not operate a fifth limb
Then Ape, in anger, scattered the flame
Pointing fingers in Man's face
Said, "Man, it is thou who art to blame
For making me a disgrace!"
