Poetry is therapy

Did I ever tell you that writing poetry is very relaxing? It works when I write poems, even while I listened to music. Any comments?

Poetry is my liberation because I seldom speak, and I can express myself on a much-deeper level than I can via verbal communication. It really is a beautiful art form.

But if you feel angry, sad, or happy, writing poems is good for you.

I also write poetry (and prose) for the same reasons. Writing pieces with the right cadences and arrangement of vowel sounds is very soothing, especially when you've used these techniques to really think through and develop an idea.

Who are your favorite poets, queensamaria? I love Ted Hughes, Emily Dickinson, Philip Larkin, and Pablo Neruda. Ginsberg is fun, but can be repetitive.

^^ Maya Angelou is one of my favorite poets, as well. Langston Hughes is another one of my favorites.
