I didn't think through room arrangement this year and ended up putting my rats against a wall where there is a rubber door stop thing that stops the doorknob from hitting a wall. The cage was moved somehow, and it ended up against the rubber thing, and the rats chewed it. It's still functional, but it was very obviously chewed so they'll probably have to replace it.
How screwed am I? Will I have to rehome my rats? How much do those rubber things cost to replace?

Those rubber things are not expensive; I shouldn't think this is going to be thought of as major damage. It's also not your fault as someone else moved the cage.

I love the idea of emotional support rats, I think that's lovely. Rats are great.
