I'm going on a long road trip soon and have three pairs of earbuds in my purse right now. One of the pairs I have had since May 1st and they still work. I'm not sure how long my Apple earbuds have been working and recently got a pair of earbuds because I enjoy having emergency earbuds. My favorite pair of earbuds seem to last a long time.

Also, what brands do you like? I love Panasonic, Apple and House of Marley. I'll be in a car for seven hours and seven minutes and then I think over five hours and 11 minutes. It's a two part car ride.

There's a weird, consistent trend where if I pay over $30, they will break within two months. But if I pay $4 to $19, they will last forever. So that's what I usually recommend, just getting the cheapest ones you can. I normally pay in the $8 to $14 range.

Skullcandy is decent. The apple ones always break on me, and they're uncomfortable. The most common issue is that at some point traveling, the wire to one of the buds will get yanked or pulled on something, if only for a moment. Some earbuds are very resistant to that problem, but others break pretty much instantly.

I like skullcandy earbuds because they sound good and I can usually find some that are reasonably priced. How long the last varies but the last pair I bought lasted I think a bit over a year, but the speaker detatched from the back with the wires and such, for a while I just had to keep snapping it back together because it sounded find just wouldn't stay together, but eventually it damaged the wires inside so that side doesn't work now. Luckily I had another pair of them I got as a gift but never really used much since I already had the other ones...so didn't have to buy more.

They usually only last about a month, that could be, because I have them in my pocket most of the time. I bought all of my earphones from a gas station.

I did however, get a more "professional" pair of earphones at walmart, and they lasted about 5 - 6 months, so I may get more in the future...

Also, I'm not sure what brand they were, I usually just grab a pair and hope they last a while...

I got ones from Samsung and they sound and work excellent. I prefer headphones. I just will get the bose noise cancelling headphones in the future. The headphones I am using right now as we speak aren't portable because of a 10 foot cord.

For my phone I use Apple (default with iPhone) until they wear out (about a year or so) then I switch to Skullcandy buds or headphones. My last pair of SC headphones lasted only about six months though.

On my laptop phones last longer. I used my old Apple set for about three years until they wore out. Then I used generic buds for about three months (tip: never buy cheap) and am now using JVC buds.

My current set of travel buds lasts for half a year now, they consistently last for a year or more.
My good and expensive buds last longer, but those i keep at home, at my pc, and do not move them around
