Ok so Syd Barret is the reason Pink Floyd even exists...and this pompus a**hole wrote an article just totally trying to s**t on him and say that 'getting rid of him was 'the best thing ever for the band'. F**k them, Pink Floyd wasn't happy about it...the guy went crazy, it was a sad thing they had to leave him to continue the band. Then they go on to Sh*t on the album The Wall...and I mean I had to draw the line, what the f*** a**hole thinks they can just talk sh*t about Syd Barret, might as well take a crap on David Bowie and Dio's grave as well.

with his condition it certainly was the best thing to happen. if Syd was healthy it would've been a different story. they shouldn't have left him stranded like that though. bad things could've happened considering his mental state.

See I agree that it was best for the band...but still the article went well beyond stating that, sounded like they figured Pink Floyd would have been better off never having had Syd Barret as a member. Also if I remember right I thought they just didn't pick him up for a gig and then from there replaced him...I was under the impression he was at home or something not just like abandoned in the middle of nowhere or anything. Also the article made it out like Syd was intentionally unreliable which I don't think was really the case.

Well it seemed like they were attacking Syd Barret and as an avid Pink Floyd fan that seemed disrespectful.

I prefer Floyd without him.

I love all 3 of his albums though, really talented dude.

Easy to s**t on dead musicians, especially those who never reached their potential.

He inspired some amazing music though, the writer is a complete tool.

Exactly, like the guy contributed to music in a significant way, so it was just b.s to rip on him like that. I mean my favorite album of theirs is The Wall, and that doesn't have Syd Barret but still the first three albums were great and had something quite unique about them. Also though outside those three albums I have been able to track down some of their early stuff that isn't on my copies of those albums like the songs Paintbox, See Emily Play and Arnold Lane(I think it's called).

No matter what I like people have the right to hate it. I will defend my love but they also have to right to lambaste it.
