I can do basic math well and can do math in my head, well basic math such %for tips or for change from a $20. In school I did have a tutor for algebra. I like stats and made an A in grad school stats. Never took geometry, physics or calculus, but did take organic chem, chem and biochem in college and grad school. I have NVLD.

I think I'm in top 90 % of human population. Not so great with details. I can build nice hypothesis in theoretical level but they are not proofs.... Too much hand waver to be really good with it. All tough I have once discovered very original proof in calculus that amazed one of my maths lecturer with its pure simplicity.

Top 90% is where 90% of people are. Did you mean 90th percentile?

Not diagnosed. Horrible at most math. Frustrates the hell out of me and I don't have patience for all of the rules.

My math skills suck, the stuff I can't do in my head I just forgot and I think there is some sort of issue with me being able to retain this information. They put down 'math disorder' as one of DXs once, never heard of it,

You could estimate that from the comment. Let's say if the vertical cut off line was 90 % of the total length I would be in the upper part. I usually have too little motivation to fully explain my mental imagery which in fact makes me poorer mathematician. Instructors usually had no idea how I arrived to right solution...
The funny thing is that I'm totally aware of my sloppiness but I don't care.

But being in the top 10 % is also as logically sound as being top 90 %. Just "little" bit less accuracy.

However once I got into I show them mood and made over elaborate explanations. It wasn't so welcomed approach either.

I'm definately able. Top of my grade in math. Also just for fun I memorised 47 digits of pi.

I suck to the point of dyscalculia. I transpose even simple numerical sequences and have to deliberately and slowly double and triple check even phone numbers.
That said I would love to learn how to understand math, especially the higher forms where it is less arithmetic / crunching numbers and more conceptual. I'm even thinking of looking for someone to teach me this, as an adult, in an independent 1 - 1 class.

Hello. I have ASD - level one, and I am considered "gifted" in mathematics. My general math skills are in the 84 percentile according to the recent assessment I got to test for neurodevelopmental disorders (like ASD). My math fluency I believe is in the 99.9 percentile, but it may be math foundation, I forget.

But I am by no means a mathematician.

I'm an engineer, which means a fair part of my job involves math - and another fair part of it involves deliberately and slowly double and triple checking to make sure all the numbers match everywhere in the blueprints and estimates. So I try not to think of myself as mathematically able, because overconfidence can and does lead to mistakes.

ASD I've always loved Sciences and history, but I was horrible with Math and English. I have always had trouble with numbers, the harder I concentrate the quicker they leave. Bad with dates and time. I always wanted to get into cosmology, but life played a cruel joke on me. I was also really bad with reading, I was deathly afraid of reading out loud because I would get hung up and mentally want to start over, to understand because I would lose my concentration on the words if that makes sense. As I have gotten older I am much better about that and for the most part grown out of it, but I do lose my concentration from time to time and have to re-read if my mind starts to wander.

No, most definitely not. Basic arithmetic and percent is all I can do.

According to my assessment, my strongest area is in mathematics. And yet my grade in that class in school has consistently been my worst grade.
