What does everyone here think of windows media player?

I'm listening to a CD right now, and can hear all kinds of pops and clicks underneath the music from errors that aren't being filtered out since windows media player uses the IDE bus to get music from the drive to the sound card so it can do all of those fancy things it does to the music.

Shame on MS for not putting error correction algorithms into it's CD playing portion of windows media player

I use lots of diffrent players for music/sound realtime, quicktime, mp3, ogg files and the windows media player type files. and i do not use my computer cdrom or dvdrom for listening to cd i rip them to 320kilobits mp3 or convert them to ogg file. MS cares more market share than a good product

I dont like wmp's encoding properties.

it's like they are tacking it on as an afterthought.

WMA is a horible file format.

I hate WMA too, even at high bitrates it sounds scratchy.

My main fury at Windows Media Player is at the new version WMP 10.

After loads of messing about I have been unable to find a way of bringing up album reviews instead of paid download services - WMP 9 linked to Muze and AMG for album/ artist profiles, related artists etc, and I found loads of great stuff that way.

Needless to say I binned WMP 10 and went back to the old version... curse their greedy hides

Winamp is cool, if a little more complicated.
