I try my best to fit in with groups and conversations but I can never time it right when to talk. Even in mid conversation people seem to just butt in and talk right over me and completely drown me out. When I try this, I get dirty looks for butting in. Even when I'm in a conversation with people I can't seem to time it right it seems like as soon as I try to talk someone else talks over me. Its so annoying and sometimes I try 2,3 or 4 times to say a sentence, just to be drowned out by other people. I haven't got much confidence anyway so this just makes it harder for me to join in. I struggle with my short term memory especially when talking to people so that makes it harder for me. I forget words half way through or if I don't jump in the conversation quick enough, I forget what I'm going to say. Much of the time I think its because nobody is really interested in stuff I like so I have to try and read about stuff that other people like just to make conversation.

I don't do groups for that reason.

if you do get a chance to talk then they have already started talking about something else when you were trying to add to the conversation before which is annoying

I've definitely had more than my fair share of this. I've gotten to the point where, if I want to say something, I try to come up with a way to make my point in less than 10 words, knowing that I'm not likely to get much more than that before someone talks over me. If that's not possible, I don't bother trying.

Yet with some people.....this issue never comes up. That's probably because being a skilled conversationalist is a rare skill.
