People usually decide how they feel about me within a couple of interactions with me. They usually have no interest in being anything more than casual acquaintances with me. People figure out pretty quickly that I don't have connections or tons of money and that I can't help them advance their careers or social status. Once people have made up their minds about me, they won't ever change their minds. Living in a small town makes this especially challenging because I have pretty much met everybody that lived in my town so I don't have many options for making friends. Everybody knows each other and most families have been in my town for at least a couple of generations. My family has lived in my town for 15 years. Do people make up their minds pretty quickly about you too?
My town is full of gossip queens and they have spread plenty of bs about me. Other times a person may be eager to meet me because my mom or one of siblings made me sound amazing, but all the enthusiasm disappears once they meet me. Either my family members overestimate people's interest in me or the person sees what I am like in person and thinks I'm a ret*d and doesn't think I was what they were expecting.
