Yeah, I'd hate for an idiot to think I'm a jerk. How would I ever live with myself?

The best question to ask someone who doesn't understand objectivity in art is to ask then how would one know if they have improved in their skills.

How would one check improvement unless they made an objective measurement against something?

This idea that all art is subjective bothers me since it trivializes the whole field. Someone who spends years and decades refining their craft isn't just doing random feeling expression and should, at the least, be shown some respect for the effort of going above and beyond what most people would attempt.

Yeah and I would think the idiot had more intelligence.
