I love me some Castlevania and anything similar. Platformers in general really, but action platformers are my jam.
Super Mario Bros 3, Pretty much any 2D sonic game, Castlevania SOTN, uhh Kirby, Metroid.

I also love capcom arcade fighters. Street Fighter games (even though I never really got good with them)

If a game looks interesting I then research it then find out its part of a series, which I then go back to the begining to play, even though most of the time the games are stand alone games. I like watching how the story\graphics\gameplay has improved over the years. Persona for the playstation is my current one although playing it on the psp. I generally don't often play emulators unless it's reigion locked on my consoles, which is often due to being in the UK.

It's not a retro game, but have you played Rogue Legacy?

A game made in the 80's isn't a retro game? So what do you class as a retro game?

Lol, I think he meant Rogue Legacy isn't technically retro but it is inspired by those old school platformers so it feels like one almost.

And yes I do have that game although I havent put a whole lto of hours into it. I need to give it another chance though I love rogue-lite platformers and have bought quite a few of them

According to Wikipedia, Rogue Legacy came out in 2013 =) http://www.roguelegacy.com/

It actually has very little to do with the original Rogue, it just uses a few Rogue-like mechanics, such as procedurally generated levels.

I have so many old consoles, and so many games. I grew up on the ZX Spectrum and taught myself to code in BASIC.

I have written remakes of old retro games for PC, and more recently for Android (which have kept me in coffee quite nicely in the last couple of years).

Graphics aren't everything. Gameplay is king and I still love the oldies but goodies (I'm a getting to be a bit of a golden oldie myself).

Last month I got the new SNES Classic edition and have been having lots of fun with that - especially after using Hakchi and installing more games on it.

Again long day. I thought you meant Castlevania wasn't retro

Ohhhh, okay, I understand now =) Sometimes I don't word things very well.

I thought maybe you misread that I was saying that Rogue wasn't retro.

It's all I play now. Can't beat em! 'specially PS1 and N64 (even via emulators, which are now available on Android phones, use an apk if you're hard of earning and aren't above piracy wink wink)

Codename Tenka is next on my list:
