Wash your sheets often. Lots of people never think of this. They go all in on creams and forget that they plant their face on a dirty pillow every night. Also don't over wash your face. When it's so dry you only produce more oil to compensate.

I had real bad acne as a teen. These things helped.

I agree about washing bedding.

I'm in my 40s and still have bouts of acne. I've had hormone tests and they're normal.

The only thing that's helped is washing my face with oily skin cleanser every night and using a gel called Differin, which is adapalene. It's strong stuff but it works.

I was prescribed an antibiotic as a teen cuz I had very BAD acne. The problem was that I was supposed to take the antibiotic in the morning & antibiotics can be very hard on the stomach & I never ate breakfast on skewl mornings(I woke up too late). I got sick(had vomiting) & was taken off the antibiotic.

Three things I found that worked, all are cheap and very successful: tea tree oil, either Dab a little on a new spot, or put a few drops all over your face, count to twenty and wash it off. It can be quite drying so once every 2 days max.
Zinc, take zinc in the form of zinc picolante.
Walnuts.. No idea why, must be the fat content or omega but when I started eating ten grams of walnuts for breakfast my oily skin fixed itself in a couple of weeks! I thought it was coincidence so stopped and things got notably worse until I added them back into my diet again.

Sometimes it's a deeper issue which can't be solved with over-the-counter creams or rinses. I had mild-to-moderate acne into my 20s, so I went to a dermatologist and got Accutane, the best-known acne medication (pills), and like magic it completely vanished and never came back.

TL;DR: consult a dermatologist. They didn't earn that degree for nothin'!
