I used to love reading Rick Riordan's books. In fact, I still do- at least, his earlier works. But I've noticed that over the years the quality of his writing has gotten worse and worse. I wonder if he's rushing himself to crank out books for a deadline, because the characters and the plot lines and almost everything in between is sub-par compared to his first series. Has anyone else noticed this?

Unfortunately, the more recent series (like the Trials of Apollo and the Magnus Chase series) seem to be more of a rushed job with hastily written political messages rather than a thoughtful work of art. The writing doesn't hold my attention the way it used to, and the love interests have gotten crazier and more annoying than ever. One thing that irks me is that he seems to be focusing more on supporting the LGBTQ community through his stories, rather than creating quality works. It is very distracting and unnecessary and doesn't really add much value to the story.

I don't hate LGBTQ people, but I also don't support their sinful lifestyle, and even if Rick Riordan's writing had stayed up to grade, the convoluted love stories would still be annoying. Then again, I hate most love stories, gay or not.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. What are your thoughts on this? Do you still read his books, or do you like to stick with the oldies but goodies?
