I've been taking multiple tests about autism and all of them said that i might be on the spectrum. I wanna get diagnosed but i'm scared to tell my parents and also going to a doctor and getting diagnosed.

I don't know what your parents are like. Why would you be afraid that you might be diagnosed? Would they treat you differently? Would something bad happen?

Going to a doctor--is more like going to a psychologist.

My parents are actually really nice, but they don't really take illnesses very seriously. They once suspected that i have depression but after few days they completly forgot about it, and i'm afraid to go to the doctor because, you know, social interaction.

Why should you be scared to tell them?

They should be terrified that you're about to tell them they chose to ignore something as important as ASD for your entire life and neglected to do anything to help you with it.

My parents didn't really believe me that it was worth my time and money to pursue testing. It was the last $2k I had and I was unemployed at the time. By the time the testing process was over they were swayed, willing to reimburse me and had a new perspective on all of the traits they had recognized but never thought of as related.

With all the misinformation about it, I could understand that. You could start my sharing your authentic self more. That's worked for me: showing my (NT) dad what's really in my head. Since my mom is likely the genetic source it was awkward for me to disclose (b/c I wanted to scream - you have it too!), but I am nearing 50 so am not "beholden" to them anymore.

I contacted an ASD support group and got a referral to an ASD therapist who then referred me to an assessor who is familiar with how ASD presents iteself in adult women - very important. Many psychologists are still misinformed themselves.
