I don't follow rugby much but if it's something special, like yesterday's world cup final, I make an exception, especially since my country's team was in it!

South Africa was very motivated to win yesterday in Yokohama, they kept up the pressure from the start, and they did it! Cheslin Kolbe's try was amazing. The whole country got a morale boost from this incredible teamwork!

I blame your victory on UK commentators. When you lost to New Zealand they said no team has ever won after

losing their opening game and I thought 'that's it then, they're bound to bloody win now' and I didn't even know

then that it would be us you'd be knocking out.

Congratulations by the way. It was a good competition all round. Japan did a great job, lots of support at all the

matches.

Thanks! I've learned in life how it's never over until the "fat lady sings".

Japan is awesomely good at organizing events like these.

Hi! I was worried after joining WP recently that I would be the only person into rugby haha. I, unfortunately, stopped playing in fall after playing in college for five years and another five years on a men's union team.

Welcome to WP revlar!

Rugby doesn't seem very popular in the US at all. It never took off, unlike RSA and NZ.

It's definitely growing a bit but still not very popular, which is unfortunate because it's so much more interesting than American football. What I love about rugby is that every player pretty much has to be able to do everything that all the other players do. Like in football, a wide receiver only has to run far then catch the ball--never has to tackle or cover another person, kick, etc.

I think it will never be as popular in America because 1) we don't have long enough attention spans to watch two 40-minute halves straight with halftime and penalties being the only break and 2) the amount of money made from so much advertisement in football from commercial breaks after each play. One game should only take 60 minutes but then you have an additional 60 minutes of commercials.

I don't really watch it a lot but certainly watched the World Cup final in Japan where our team beat England, who seemed no match for our team's determination.

Japan isn't really renowned for rugby either but it's certainly growing there too and they are performing well.
