Have You Ever Been Called A ret*d?
Yes.

Paradoxically, the people who call me this are usually the ones whose false beliefs I've corrected.

Typical 3rd-grade example...

HE: "If I stab you with this pencil, you'll get lead poisoning and die!"
ME: "No, I'd bleed a lot, and maybe die, but not from 'lead poisoning'."
HE: "You ret*d! Why do you think they call it 'pencil lead'?"
ME: "Because graphite was mistaken for lead ore before the advent of modern chemistry."
HE: "You ret*d. You're making that up!"
ME: "No, I'm not. Graphite is used in pencils, not lead. Look it up."
HE: "Look up the word 'fist', ret*d, after I get done pounding you with it!"

<a physical beating ensues>
It better have involved you hitting him with a chair until he stopped twitching.
No, it didn't.

It did involve me getting in trouble for starting the fight ( ), and being grounded during the week that his dad's garage caught fire ( ).

I suppose that's sufficient. +1 internet to you.

When someone called you a "ret*d", it does not necessarily mean she thinks you are "stupid"

Just because someone called you that, does not mean you are ret*d

"ret*d" used to be medical terminology

Now it is no longer medical terminology

If you want to give up, fine

But the reason for giving up, is not because of what someone told you

Only a clinical psychologist has a right to administer IQ tests. And it cost $$$$

Based on your description, nobody mentioned in your post measured your IQ

IQ is a bell curve

Dualism

Right now, the medical terminology is "intellectually challenged"

Some people are "intellectually challenged". But that is for the clinical psychologist to determine

"Intellectually challenged" is not a choice or crime or moral flaw

By the way, it gets on my nerves when someone remarks on my intelligence

It "hurts"

That includes compliments like "smart"

They expect you to believe whatever they tell you

If it is a compliment they expect you to say "thank you"

No, I've never really been called anything offensive to my disability. However, I have been called a "little girl" a couple of times by older women, it did make me a bit mad the first time though. :ninja: But now I don't care. :P

I've been called doubly exceptional, which sounds like little more than a euphemistic way of saying 'half-retarded'.

Idiots shower me with so much praise, for the slightest thing, that you could only imagine that they think I am intellectually challenged

For example, Rolando Morales penis was like
"(my name mispronounced), you know when daylight savings time is".

But that is not rocket science

The reason why I told him was because I did not want the penis to be late

I was not making conversation

This penis acted like he had never done anything wrong before in his life

Manipulate

Backhand compliments

Yup. My dad let it slip in 7th grade and it still hurts to think about. To make matters worse, my brothers figured out that that word set me off and would harass me with it to get a reaction. not fun

It wouldn't mean "half ret*d".

It would mean something like "doubly ret*d", or...."doubly disabled", or "you're BOTH a moron, AND batshit".

(not saying that you are that. Just that that what its sounds like certain folks are saying to you).

Doubly-exceptional refers to having both a learning disability and being gifted in terms of IQ, so no, it's really not as you're describing.

I have overheard it when out in public.

"What's up with that dude?"
"He looks ret*d".

"Look at the ret*d".

Stuff like that. But not often.

But when playing my video game and a hopelessly outmached npc foe attacks me, I will sometimes call it a "ret*d" after quickly killing it.

My parents use it all the time! Now my siblings are doing it too. Honestly, people use so much it's as if it doesn't have a meaning anymore. I still hate it though.
