I know air pollution is down lately. Personally, it's had a considerable positive impact on my asthma. In fact, if I continue making this level of progress consistently, there's a significant chance that I might actually start registering as no longer asthmatic. 8O

Seriously. I'm getting really close to the normal breathing range. To put this into perspective, I've been diagnosed with asthma since I was fourteen and I'm now almost twenty-one. Back then it was so bad I had an air filter in my room and I had a near constant cough. Now I'm barely coughing at all.

Unfortunately, there's also a chance I might start regressing again once social distancing is over. Being around second-hand smoke and aerosols tends to trigger my asthma. During quarantine I haven't been around any smoke and I feel great. Even during my walks I haven't come across any smokers, I've passed a few people but none of them were smoking (I kept my distance, don't worry). Sadly, I am aware that once things get back to normal I might be exposed to my triggers and my asthma could get worse as a result. The air pollution will probably get worse.

On the other hand, there's a chance that I might improve enough that I'll be able to withstand that and not revert back. That'd certainly be nice.

I have been suffering from asthma for most of my life. I was diagnosed around 20 years ago and put on prescription medicine. Around 7 years ago I underwent bariatric surgery to lose weight. I was obese and within 7 months after surgery I lost 115 pounds. Around 3 years after the surgery, my asthma went into remission. I have not been taking any prescription drugs for this condition since that time.

I've had asthma since I was a child. I never thought of it as anything more than mild, probably due to always being on medication for it, but I have noticed a major difference in my ability to breathe since lockdown started. The feeling of being able to breathe fully is actually kind of weird since I'm not used to it.
