Okay, I have at this point only gotten early in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Just got to England, and just using my little knowledge of Norse mythology I thought of a bunch of theories for how things would go. It is pretty much just after the title drop of the game, and I don't know if they will turn out to be spoilers but I would be interest to see how my theories might match up further on.
My early theory is that Eivor is related Odin in some way, maybe a descendant. Having an ability called Odin and receiving visions of him, along with being able to see through a Raven, a supposed ability of Odin. As the game mentioned, a wolf kills Odin, which is interesting of note when the game starts with Eivor being mauled by a wolf.
By general rules, the end of the world seems a likely culprit of events, which in Norse mythology is Ragnarök. Now I am not a huge expert, but Ragnarok has a few key signs, one such thing is the world serpent, Jörmungandr poisoning the sky and seas. Looking at this point in the game, I think that we could look at the aurora that is happening in the modern time as Jormungandr, its trails could resemble a serpent wrapping around the world and is poisoning the sky. And if the are trying to stop that effect as Jormungandr, they will probably require a Thor, who is supposed to die in a tie with the world serpent, which creates my theory that someone will have to sacrifice themselves at the end of the game, mirroring Thor's act.
Going by my base knowledge, Ragnarok is supposed to be set off with the death of an un-killable/immortal god. Now I really did not finish Odyssey, but my knowledge is that the game ended with an immortal owner of the staff having died after giving up the staff, which has me think that was the Baldr, an immortal dying that would bring on Ragnarok, the events happening outside of the Animus in this game.
And next going onto the name of the game, Valhalla, in Mythology Valhalla is the hall of the slain, it is where Valkyrie take the souls of great warriors that have died to await the final battle of Valhalla. The animus itself is literally Valhalla, where slain warriors exist to help win the final battle for the world, this what the plot of the game is, where you have been sent into the animus to find someone who sent a message. My guess is symbolic Thor in the halls of Valhalla to beat the world serpent.
Even more as I think, the other side of the skies and seas being poisoned by the world serpent is the world being set on fire by Fenrir, the wolf that kills Odin. The world being set on fire is suspiciously similar to Desmond's part of the series, where a solar flair is a danger of scorching the Earth, and Desmond being sacrificed to stopping it makes me think that Desmond is Odin, perhaps we will get a reveal that Odin himself is actually Desmond once we get a look under the cloak. And is Odin who died stopping the world being scorched, I think the character you play outside of the animus in the current few games will act as a symbolic child of Odin who will be sacrificed in stopping the world serpent, so the game might end with you finding Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, to be sacrificed. Maybe it is strange then for you to be Thor when your character is a woman, but that is actually perfect, a particular tale of Norse mythology is when Thor dressed as a woman to get his hammer back, and as I theorized that is what the plot of this game is.
People have probably already finished the game to prove that my theories are totally wrong, but at this point in only playing early on, and some basic knowledge of Norse mythology, I kind of feel good about these guesses on parallels. Fingers crossed there is something close.
