"you aint never caught a rabbit. You aint no friend of mine".

Exactly. Elvis didnt write the song.

But if it upsets you so...lets rewrite EVERY rock, blues, folk, and country, song, so it fits your liking.

I cant get any satisfaction (which Jagger and Richards DID write).

No one is aware of the difficulties that I have observed (nobody knows the troubles I seen).

Old Man River. That old man river. He must know something, but he...never says anything.

Prescriptivists normally haven't got past GCSE English classes in my experience...

That said, the theory still makes sense without that.

"Well, they said you was high class, well that was just a lie" wasn't about a hounddog at all... it was about a class he turned up to and they said 'this is high class' but it wasn't the highest set at all

Oddly enough the version you and I are familar with (the 1956 Elvis mega hit version) is a sanitized version of a racy 1952 blues song written for Big Mama Thorton, by the songwriting team of Lieber and Stoller.

The "hound dog" in the original story is a human gigolo living off the woman who finally gives him the boot.

Later on an obscure record exec from an obscure label tweaked the lyrics to make them more family/radio friendly for his own obscure R+B act (the Bell Hops). And the more literal version that involved hunting rabbits was born. That cleaner "Bell Hops" version was the one still later sung by Elvis.

Generally speaking the rock and roll legend that people know as Elvis Presley
didn't write his own songs, but instead, like the vast majority of modern day pop idols
became famous for his performance rather than his own creative and innovative song writing.

The ground breaking aspect of Elvis Presley is the fact that he brought what was otherwise known as
"black" music to the world during a time that the world was not ready to accept a black skinned artist
playing music that originated in black culture (i.e. the blues, jazz etc.).

That is one reason why Elvis Presley originally became a pinnacle character in the history of modern music.
Elvis Presley also continued his super career in music due to his awesome world class musical performance of many
classic world class songs, but also due to his unique unusual good looks and infectious kind nature / personality, that can be clearly seen by the onlookers.

In hindsight, who cares what grades he got in English Class. Even Gordon Brown and the UK Grammar / spelling nazi's could not undermine the great goodness that the influence of Elvis has had on the world, and still has.

Sadly the truth was not enough to stop this world of fascist bigots from his premature death.

Elvis probably did quite well in English class if he went to school in the deep south.

I think he was only average student , makes no impact on his singing though

"super career"

Ever heard of colonel Parker , problem is E signed those movie contracts and later endless concert tours.....E shouldve fired Parker around 1965 and gotten a new manager but E trusted Parker and Parker would also "threaten" E with "if you fire me then you owe me so and so , so it will hurt you financially in the long run"

Hypothetically, if one prefers to use a vernacular form of English, does that mean they can't possibly also understand the rules of textbook English?

Regardless of how well he did in English class, Elvis became very successful.
