I have family members that got very aggressive about the prospect of not being able to have a big gathering for Christmas and New Year's. I understand that traditions are nice and all, but the massive disconnect people like this have to where they get angry over having to take measures to not spread COVID is baffling. These same people complain that we're still having issues with it and refuse to wear masks properly or get vaccinated...

I miss my family's traditional Christmas -- lots of lights, lots of music, lots of food, lots of presents, and lots of hugs and smiles to go around.

(Well, maybe I did not hug as much as the others, but I guess it is the thought that counts.)

This year, it was just the Missus, Naia the Cat, and myself.  While we are grateful to still have each other, the final week of 2020 was too quiet.

<* sigh *> Maybe next year...

I'd say that getting thousands of people killed through complacency, stupidity, neglect of resposibilities and lack of basic common sense is a very, very "human" thing to do. Sadly.

Very true. Humans may be considered (by humans lol) one of the more "smarter" and social animals, but we're still animals. We can be very selfish just like other animals and have many limitations regarding our overall ability to think and act for others.

This belongs in politics but I agree.

I had a calm Christmas this year.

Socialised with family (Zoom and bubbles exist). Spent some time alone. Had presents. Had good food.

Had nobody arguing for no reason, no enforced small talk, nobody picking on each other for making ethical choices.

And best of all, no Covid deaths!

Everyone in my family gets it. I feel bad for ppl stuck in families where they don't.

If I had to go a year without Christmas, I would die. I couldn't live without Christmas.
