Why is the saxophone considered cheesy nowadays?

We cant end this thread without hearing... the most cliche' piece of dark saxophone music ever. But it got to be a cliche because its so cool.

Every time a comedian spoofs Forties detectives they use this song. Garrison Keillor would use it for his "Guy Noir" character.

The song is..."Harlem Nocturn"

Many artists have done cool versions over the last 70 years.







It can be done on electric guitar too.
