Does anyone here actually buy this story I linked?
Edit: And to clarify before anyone says this, I do not mean when minors try to start sexting photos of themselves. I mean someone looking up images of naked children online and then not clicking away/actually downloading them.
Quite simply, the solution for someone who has a history of working with children but who also viewed child porn is confinement.
The line has to be put some place, and this I feel is it.
There are very few absolutes in life, but stuff like this has always made me feel sick.

And I think this article is garbage too...so much stuff on Psychology Today is.
Like...something makes me wonder about someone who defends this?
The crimes may have been virtual...but those children who are in child porn live with the fact that there are men sitting behind their computers and watching them online.

This statement stands out...
So, yes, the idea that brilliance and expertise in one area does not carry over into other areas is a valid one.
However, it is difficult for me to believe that any man with an Internet connection did not learn until his thirties that (1) there is free porn on the Internet, (2) some of that porn is illegal because it depicts children, and (3) having "kiddie porn" on your hard drive is an invitation for arrest.
And while I am no great fan of Psychology Today, once you get past all of the "Pop-Psych" and "New-Age" articles, some of it is pretty good.

The part that is hard for me is this, the Nick dumbass has psych training. So he definitely knows about pedophilia.
Also, if he worked with children (it says in this article or another I read about the Nick guy) as an autism consultant...he may have been a mandated reporter.
Like...you can be smart in some ways and dumb in others. To a point.
But...I mean...children are involved even if it is on a screen with this man (based on what he says). Real children were abused to make those videos. My compassion is given to them.
There are too many variables with this situation that involve children.
And it rubs me the wrong way that this man has books published that people in the “autism world” (IDK if that includes many autistic people) buy.
Just...I know how trauma as a child that is nonsexual can mess with someone for a long time...it’s hard for me to feel compassion when this man (and his parents) seems to think he needs endless compassion.
If he really feels bad...I would hope if a victim in his videos is known to law enforcement (which can happen) then he is made to pay some financial restitution at least.
Because the survivors of child porn, if they are alive as adults, have major issues and then need tons of therapy. And I assure you those therapy appointments for them are not fun at all.

And I regard what Nick’s parents (and other parents of people with similar charges) as bias towards him.
Which is wonderful for him.
But it should not dictate everything about his sentence.
I think people who commit crimes against children need a lot of restrictions on them. Regardless of if the raped a child they locked in a room daily. Or they enjoyed watching a naked child online.

The more I think about it, the more it seems likely to me that Mr. Dubin knew exactly what he was doing, and that he is only trying to use his autism as a Get Out of Jail Free card.

See that...that I have zero compassion for.
And it troubles me that people like Tony Attwood and Temple Grandin’s mother are co-signing this garbage.
BTW, in a Spectrum News article about all of this they said aspies (and they only mentioned a child porn enthusiast with something like 25,000+ images of child porn on his computers). And Tony Attwood’s son, Will Attwood...and he does have a history of substance abuse. BUT, I have not been able to find what his actual charges that sent him to jail/prison for around 3 years are.
It could be nothing, I hope it is. But, if it is a simple drug/alcohol related charge (even for robbery or assault) Attwood is making it worse by hiding it. Or appearing to.
Like the more I think...the more I have never liked the people associated with Attwood.

See my main “special interest”?
I know about this world (drugs) to an extent. I don’t wish to go too much into this.
The successful people in this world look into people they choose to deal with. And if something does not add up they question things and choose carefully on how to deal with it.
Also, you can almost never totally eliminate your ties with that world. Someone always remembers you and knows something. Especially with the internet.
And tbh, even killing someone over something like drugs is not something extremely worth hiding.
Attwood has never been someone who I totally trusted. And the more I find out the more questions I have. He may be embarrassed, but truth does tend to come out. So people should be careful with lies.

And I just want to say, I am NOT saying all males (or even females, or people) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are criminals.
Or furthermore sex offenders.
I am just asking the hard questions on WHY people who commit sex crimes who have a ASD diagnosis are being protected on this level.
I would say, these questions have to be asked. They are uncomfortable but they should be asked.
Also, I think someone should say, defending the population of sex offenders that have ASD could have consequences for the rest of the ASD community that does not sexually offend.
That should also be talked about and considered.
I am going to end this post here. I don’t mean to offend anyone. But if anyone is offended then that is their right to be. But I will not tolerate personal attacks (and I am not saying I have or have not gotten any).
