How to make a favorable impression on bosses and get promoted? I'm not an expert on this, at all, in any sense. But there are a few things I've learned from what I've seen:
1) The obvious stuff. Show up neat and clean. Good hygiene. Positive attitude. Work ethic. Honesty. Being good at your job.
2) Be friendly and outgoing. Say hi to everyone and try to remember everyone's name in the first week.
3) If you don't know how to do something, ask. Don't worry about if it would look stupid to ask. It would look even more stupid to continually do things incorrectly for months.
4) Talk to your boss and convey to them that you're open to learning and doing more for the company. Maybe there's a part of the job you see your co-workers doing but you don't have the skills to do that yet. Ask if you could learn that
5) Information will spread around. Don't talk behind peoples back. Don't except people to keep a secret.
6) I notice the people who get promoted have a balance of humor. Enough humor to be sociable and likeable but they also know when to be serious. They're not goofy 100% of the time.
