I used to tie them like that. I don't know how to tie them the ordinary way. Nowadays I just wear Velcro shoes.

No, I was very delayed at learning how to tie laces and had to do it that method for awhile but eventually I figured out how to tie them 'normally' and I'd have to practice to do them bunny ears style again.

Are there other ways that people tie their shoes? I was taught to do it like that in OT as a kid and never thought about tying them any other way. I usually tie my shoes twice though because they don't stay tied for long.

There's the one loop method, where you only make one bunny ear and then wrap the other lace around it before tying it off.

I use the method funeralxempire described. I used to tie mine twice, but then I got these shoes with laces that seem to have more grip. They generally stay tied. Ironically, I also don't need to tie them anymore, because the shoes are designed to slip on and off while tied. They're crap for running or long periods of being on my feet, but for average daily use I really like them.

That's how I figured out how to time them at age 4. I wanted to go outside and play, and my mother said no. I thought it was because she didn't want to tie my shoes, so I figured it out myself. I still didn't get to go outside...

Ohh, I guess I do actually do it like that now. I thought there was some massively different way people were tying their shoes. lol

I always just tie my shoes once, and then slip them on and off from then on. It takes me way too long to tie my shoes so I try to avoid it.

I had not heard of the Bunny Ears Method.

For most of my life I used a standard bowknot. (Double knots were too much trouble.)

That worked great with flat shoelaces but more and more often my shoes had either round, rawhide or braided laces...and they kept coming untied. :(

Then I learned of the double shoestring knot--which is different than a double knot! The double shoestring knot stays tied with thick laces and (usually) unties very easily!

No, I think bunny ears is harder than the normal way.

Me too.

I just tuck my laces in my shoes and have done for nearly all my life.

I don't know how to tie my shoes the "right way", so no.

That last video is very helpful, thank you!
