Not a small thing. You're able to take care of yourself. You're able to have privacy.

That’s really great. I know what it’s like to be unsteady on your feet and be at constant risk of falling.
Best wishes.

The next thing is to see if I can manage getting down the stairs. I managed to do so using the test stairs at the inpatient rehabilitation unit. I've been told that I've done well by the reenablement workers that used to come in. That stopped a few days ago because I was doing 99% of things for myself. They were expecting me to really struggle.

Sounds like you have a strong desire to overcome your obstacles.

When someone really wants to do something and his or her mind is strong they can achieve much and surprise doctors and health workers.

Going down stairs might feel daunting at first but you'll manage fine.

I've always had bad balance, bad coordination and odd gait. I think being even more sedentary than usual due to back pain, and then Covid, didn't help things.

Poor coordination is quite common among us. I've had various minor falls as a result of not quite knowing where my body is in relationship to stuff around it, and I wear out my shoes very unevenly. My mom has remarked on this as she notices when I visit! I've fallen down stairs a number of times. Up is always easier for me. I also had a bad back problem about ten years ago and had to rest for several weeks.

I'm glad you seem to be over the worst of your health challenges now.

Now on 9 pills a day, as compared to 2 pre falls and hospitalisation. The latest a blood thinner due to it being found I have atrial fibrillation.

An interesting article.

I have two sets of stairs in my house… double the chance of falling down one. I’ve had an extra rail put on each, so I can grab both sides going up and down. I feel much safer now… a local joiner could do it really cheaply… or the Council might do it for nowt.

^^^^ There's a rail on both sides. Like you walking up is easier than walking down for me.

Have 2 sets of stars rails are on the right, except the outside stair rail on both sides . Right side rails are good for going down , especially if only the right hand is the only one one that work .
