My computer is now officially a piece of crap
I can't believe it's come to this. I have to go on a long hiatus from my favorite hobby of uploading videos to YouTube. My computer's CPU is now no longer able to handle OBS without overloading the encoder. I want to continue making videos. The CPU is not upgradable nor replaceable. I have to buy a whole new computer and I can't find one cheap enough that has good enough modern parts. My other option is to abandon OBS, but I don't know any recording software that will let me record as long as I want and is willing to work with an AMD A8-6500.

There is no such thing as perfect. We are beautiful as we are. With all our imperfections, we can do anything.
A short term solution would be to find another recording software. I need suggestions from someone who knows more about them and their system requirements than I do. If it's going to cost money, my budget is $50 and not a penny more.
I've been trying to ask this around everywhere else that I know of and yet places like Reddit have become very picky about who posts what.

Two simple things you can try: make sure the heat sink is properly attached. I had this problem once, once of the legs that attaches it to the motherboard had snapped.
Also, make sure the thermal compound has not dried out. I don't know how old your computer is, but it needs to be cleaned off and replaced every so often.
Ah, yeah, I just looked up your CPU, it's almost ten years old. If you haven't been maintaining it, you should definitely take a look.
My GF has a lot of issues with OBS as well. If she's just streaming from her console via El Gato, it's mostly fine, but if she tries running a PC game and OBS on the same computer, it doesn't do so hot.
Did this issue perhaps start after a software update, or do you think it's unrelated? There might be a way to roll back to a previous version, if that would help.
I'm guessing that playing the game on one PC and recording it on another PC probably isn't an option for you (I was going to recommend it to her to try, but she just gets frustrated and gives up and goes back to her console games).
I don't do streaming or videos, so I don't have any recommendations, sorry. I know Fraps used to be popular back in the day, but I don't know if it supports the features you need.
