International Women's Day? In the age of gender being an offensive/non-PC thing? 8O

Maybe it is in the UK, but the UK is not the whole world.
Don't push your Western values onto the rest of us.

1. I was being sarcastic
2. Gender PC is not exactly a UK thing, more of a US thing that the UK has copied but doesn't really give much of a rats arse about
3. It's definitely not a belief of mine

Women have made so much progress over a couple of generations.

For all intents and purposes, especially in professions like law and politics, they are at least the equal of men.

What's so happy about our history? Being brutally locked up and tortured for trying to vote, being completely blamed for male on female sexual assault, being more likely to die if we need CPR because the would-be CPR giver, who is usually male, *thinks* we need their consent, starving to death in certain countries because you're forbidden to leave your home without a male escort? breast cancer, PMS, period cramps menopause, statistically attempting suicide more than men, being more likely to suffer from anxiety disorders than men, or incel terrorism?

Oh! I'm sorry. I should have added getting lots of death and r*pe threats if the male players in an online game know you're female. And the world still thinking you absolutely must get married and have children or you're selfish and a failure, even if you're not mentally, physically and financially capable of bringing yet another child into a disease ravaged overpopulated world on the brink of nuclear holocaust.

Sometimes I think I'm the only human not hiding in their imaginary bubble full of sparkles and unicorns. Because all I see is toxic sludge and giant mosquitoes.

That applies for Women's History Month which is an oxymoron --- How can His Story be Hers? I think of International Women's Day as applying attention to the issues you mentioned. A friend of my mom's released her book "Chup..." on this day a couple years ago --- about "modern" women in India that are still socialized to shut up.

To OP's point, I can say from a professional standpoint that there has been progress. My opportunities are limited but way better than my (ASD) mom's. My mom's opportunities were very limited but way better than her (ASD) mom's. Here's hoping my (ASD) daughter has it better than her predecessors.

To your point, I am appalled by what is still acceptable or covered up. I wish I could yell from the rooftops about the blatant assaults and the insidious bias and discrimination. I am still largely fettered by socialization that people don't like uncomfortable truths. That I couldn't find a single male ally at my workplace; they all looked the other way. Similar to the taboo of Autism and other differences - these truths make people uncomfortable. It's strange the idea that Autistic people don't like change, b/c when it comes to injustice, I think many Autistic people support or initiate change. Perhaps we are radically uncomfortable and so don't mind radical change.
