It began with The Secret of Monkey Island in 1990 and changed point n click adventure games forever; for example, no more deaths and game overs, cryptic puzzles, and up to extremely hard difficulties like in Sierra titles. Players could actually enjoy the story with ease.

It would be later followed by four sequels and a couple remasters and remakes.

The last entry was Tales of Monkey Island released in 2009.

Now we return to Monkey Island with...Return To Monkey Island.

Coming this year.

I saw that, I'm pretty excited about it.
They're retconning most of the games and picking up where 2 left off, so that will be cool to finally see.

So Curse, Escape, and Tales will be retconned?

Yep, those games were all done by different writers from the first two.
Gilbert had planned a third game, he had the bible all written out, but they never got to make it (I don't recall the reasons why, read an interview with him ages ago, poor sales or something).

I haven't played Tales yet, but I would not be sad to see EfMI go...meh.
I love Curse, but it will be awesome to see a true sequel (assuming Gilbert sticks with the original plans).

I don't think they're completely retconning those games, BTW...Murray is in the teaser trailer, and I'm pretty sure he didn't show up until CoMI, right?

Maybe he's giving Murray a better debut.
