Original poster request to lock disc. threads?

Any consideration for a WP feature to allow original posters to request a lock on discussion threads after a certain number of posts/responses?

Options to allow discussion-threads to be locked can curb disc. threads which are becoming increasingly cumbersome, and confusing in nature to understand. Limiting discussion-threads to 25 responses seems optimal.

The purpose here is to encourage posters to remain focused in those often dynamic discusison threads .

The thread creator can ask the mod team to lock their thread and it's nearly always accepted.
I don't think a general policy like that would be beneficial. Some like to socialize in megathreads.

Of course it’s “socializing” most of the time.

There are many threads where people are constantly witty with each other, either through words, memes, or other media. Or constantly challenging each other. A microcosm for “real life,” really.

I would rather not abort my babies, thankyou.
In fact, I find this suggestion quite alarming.
Some of the threads here are thousands of pages long.
I like the history of them
And watching how they develop.
The people who post in them have become familiar friends.
That wouldn't have happened in 25 posts.

I find it puzzling that the OP, who seems concerned with posting videos on social skills, and who likes to list threads that require further discussion, doesn't realise this.

The option to limit discussion-threads can encourage the development of new discussion threads on the same topic - that is the dynamics of previous threads would be taken into account in the development of later threads.

For example, a discussion-thread topic 'AS/NT Relationships' might have a part 2, part 3, etc. example: 'AS/NT Relationships - Part 2.'

By the very nature of the Autism Spectrum, maintaining continuity in both written, and spoken communications can be challenging - hence any efforts to encourage continuity can go a long-way in curbing confusion.

In short, breaking-down content to managable sizes might just prove helpful in addressing the Autism Spectrum!

The inherent problem with the format. Forums kinda suck from the organization standpoint.

Yes, of course - but the scope for different formats is limited by the nature of thread-based forums and the site rules.
