An extrovert is someone whose energy is recharged by socializing. An introvert is someone whose energy is recharged by being in solitude. And introvert does not mean shy. An introvert can be shy, but introversion and shyness do not mean the same thing.

Someone who is introverted can be with people one on one or in a group as can someone who is extroverted. The difference is not how many people you can be with at one time, but how your energy is replenished.
