It happens to all of us at some times. This particular rule doesn't come up very often.
Just apologize, give done indication that you'll try not to do it again and try to make amends in some fashion. If you do that, then convention is to forgive, although that may take a bit of they don't know your dealing with ASD related challenges with communication.
You'll likely have an easier time smoothing this over than when I made an ill-advised comment about the make up job they did on my grandfather because I was freaking out and his face seemed to be moving due to Alice in Wonderland Syndrome and being deeply involved with deaths in both sides of my family. That ultimately did get sorted out and I'm sure if you apologize and give some indication that you'll try to not repeat it that they move past it.
