Plenty of Bed Bath and Beyond locations in my area have closed within the past year (and as a matter of fact, one of them was even used as a Spirit Halloween from August - October 2022). It's sad because I have some childhood memories of going there with my family, not to mention the fact that this is more bad news for physical brick and mortar stores.

While it is true online shopping can be convenient (particularly for items you can't currently find in stores), nothing will ever be able to replicate the feeling of actually leaving your house and walking around an actual store.

The closure was announced a couple years ago. They screwed up pretty hardcore and took big loans they couldn't afford and expanded too many store locations. Then I think their CFO was involved in not only poor business decisions, but some cooking of the books to make it look like they weren't in such rough shape.. when things came crashing down he couldn't take the stress & shame of it all and ended up unaliving himself by taking a leap off of a tall building.

Right, that would have been a much better name for that place. And also you can find a lot of those things for less money elsewhere.

Good, it was too expensive anyways.
Specialty stores tend to be more expensive but after a certain price point their high prices cost them to have too few customers to stay open, especially with online shopping these days. BB&B might woulda been better off if they closed their physical stores years ago & focused online & kept their prices somewhat reasonable.

Well yeah it was the prices there that were the biggest turn off,, its like I am not going to pay 15 dollars for a spatula if I can just go get one at walmart for two dollars. But this is a specialty spatula, like nonsense it is just paying a stupid amount for something that does not need to cost that much.

Or rip off mart, or :Hey you think having the baby was expensive come buy our overpriced baby entertainment and care items for triple the price of what you could get at walmart or the thrift shop". But I guess I could see how that may have been hard to fit on the sign.

I think a lot of their sales came from registry gifts for weddings & baby-showers. Cheaper stores like WalMart don't do the registry thing, or least didn't use to. Plus the couples wanting the gifts weren't the ones paying & figured the event was worth splurging for.
