Wish it was easier to meet other people with Aspergers in person. Others with Aspergers are probably gonna understand an Aspie more than NT most of the time. It can be frustrating to feel misunderstood, to feel like you aren't saying the right thing and/ or getting out all of the words and emotions you want to get out so you can feel better.

WP membership is scattered through most of the world and thus it gives folk with Aspergers a great opportunity to connect online. But there are several members in PA that I'm aware of and maybe they know of groups in your area that meet in person, as they do in my small South African city. We have had some great outings over the years.

You can usually find support groups in larger towns or cities.

You are right in that we generally understand each other better than NTs. WP isn't perfect but it's a much more "civilised " site than some of the NT sites I've seen with their large quota of unkind and toxic remarks.

When I'd first gotten my diagnosis, I was at a work party and one of the person brought her husband. He was soooooo on the Spectrum. It was really funny. He and I were communicating in an Aspie way (intense, long turns) and my NT coworker next to me (really nice person) was a bit beside himself as how to participate. LOL. Out of his element. Welcome to our world.

My area has in-person support groups and Autism associations with meetups. I've been going for years and feel very connected to many of the group members. Also I have one online video-conference group I participate in and another I did during the pandemic. Both useful for me. I know four families with Autistic children and have befriended three of the mothers (because they are open and caring). I hope you can find something your way or online that's more rewarding.

Huh. Given your avatar picture, I thought you were in my neighborhood just over a few streets in the cozy house with the beige shutters.
