I have been a unemployed person ever since 2016. I am thinking of working as a unpaid intern in the future to get my foot in the door. The only thing is that in the past and maybe now unpaid interns were not allowed to replace paid positions. I want to stay within the confines of the law if that is the case today but I am afraid no employer would want to have me if I asked that my work could not replace paid staffers and that it could not help them.

I know yall are not lawyers but do yall think I should try to be a unpaid intern to get experience so I can get a job finally because I am sick of being chronically unemployed with no help in finding a good job. I am just asking the company to obey the law if this is still the law. This is just an idea. I always strive to obey the law so I dont want to break it with a company.Thanks.

I hate that internships are unpaid.

That and contract employment.

Unpaid internships should be made illegal
