They do that with everything now: make it sound big and dramatic, then when you actually read it, there's nothing big and dramatic at all. It's so annoying!
e.g. when celebrities are joking around with each other on a chat show, the media posts something like:
Celebrity X insults Celebrity Y! What they really think of each other behind the scenes!
And all that really happened was that they were mildly teasing each other
It's all for clicks and likes

Weather forecasts are never 100% certain. That being the case, it would be irresponsible not to mention the more "dramatic" possibilities. The whole point of weather forecasts is so that people can be prepared for bad weather. Therefore, better to err on the side of overestimating than on the side of underestimating.

Oh, come on. What about the reporters standing in a hurricane shouting over the wind? Or when there has been a big snowstorm and they're out there exclaiming about how much snow there is and how awful it is (as if everyone watching can't just look out their window).
They almost never give warnings in a measured way, letting viewers know they should be aware of the possible worst case scenario. They're always dramatic. Which is actually dangerous because then viewers get used to them crying wolf and might not take them seriously when they actually need to.
I personally find it a very sensitive topic, as it means that now I know what the weather will likely be like in a few days. When someone explains, say, when the weather turns hot, that worries me, as it means I will not be able to sleep at night. Plus, I fear the threat of blackouts. I prefer to just simply not tune out the weather discussion to save my sanity.
Of course nowadays even the weather is becoming politicized. But still it is mostly a safe thing to talk about.
Again, I find weather sensitive, as it now means that I have something to look forward to, and not in a good way. I usually like to not think about the weather to save myself. But when someone discusses it, that's pretty much one of the things I focus on. Therefore, I hate knowing about the weather.
I often become fearful when news reports start, as it inevitably means that the weather report is coming sooner or later. I will deliberately try and make myself scarce when that happens. When I'm at the gym, I will usually try and change the station to something non-news related just to avoid knowing the weather.
The point is, I hate knowing about the weather and I will go out of my way to avoid any knowledge about it.
Mebe you need one or more weather dependent hobbies, sports, or pastimes in your life? Then the weather forecast helps shape decisions on what to go out and do for the day/night. Although, some Summer days are great for so many different activities that it's still hard to decide. But others are more suitable to one thing or another, so knowing the weather forecast lets me/others plan for a beach trip, motorcycle riding, kiteboarding, paddle boarding etc etc. Without knowing the forecast it'd be a bit of a crap shoot every day as to whether you chose the right activity or not, and with the price of gas and time you'll never get back it'd suck to choose kiteboarding and make the drive to Squamish only to find out there's no wind and some rain coming in.. that sort of thing.
If you have even ONE weather dependent thing in your life, you can start looking forward to weather discussions and knowing what the forecast is in advance. IMO
If I was going someplace, then maybe weather would be a consideration, but the fact is, I rarely go places. It's usually not that big a deal in cooler weather (such as during fall or winter), but summer is the biggest issue of all.
You sound like a combination of obsessive compulsive and agoraphobic. You talk about the weather forecast the way that some folks talk about news of the latest atom bomb test by Kim Jong Un in North Korea...as something they are personally fearful and worried about. Dude...its just the weather. Its not like your hometown is gonna get nuked by a North Korean dictator.
Get a window AC unit if you cant sleep at night, and maybe invest in some therapy as well. Get a grip.

I especially like to discuss blown forecasts. Today, for example - earlier in the week they were predicting 96 degrees. Then down to 94 by Wednesday, and just yesterday it was supposed to be 90. Today's actual high temperature: 73 and overcast, even a trace of precipitation at one point. I got it right, they got it wrong - although I expected more rain.

Today it's rainy again here in Great Britain. That's why we Brits call it Great Britain.
When people at work talk about the weather, it's usually smalltalk. Smalltalk seems like a totally useless and meaningless conversation, but it's not. Smalltalk is a major contributing factor in deciding who to backstab, bully, exclude, or exploit without directly talking about it.
For example, if a coworker says, "Awful weather today, isn't it?"
Despite the fact that it's good weather, then you must agree that it's awful weather. This how NTs start to form an alliance without talking about it directly. They're not even directly thinking about an alliance, rather it's how their brains operate at a fundamental level. Chimps do it as well, but mostly through body language and not so many vocalizations as humans.
