Sometimes I really wonder whether I truly fit in with the autistic community.
You seem to worry about this a lot, I've noticed.
I don't understand why you worry about this so much. Here on Wrong Planet, the only things you really need to "fit in" with are the
rules, the
terms of use, the additional rules for specific sections like the Haven, and
policies on PM's. Apart from these, there is no need for you to "fit in" socially or culturally with any clique here. Wrong Planet is not about "fitting in."
I think most of us here understand that "if you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person." We're all different, and I think most of us are pretty accepting of differences.

Much of that is due to the issue of whether or not ASD is a disability. I see it as being one, and struggle to identify with those that don't. No matter how hard I try I can't see the reasons for wanting a diagnosis ,if you don't think autism has any adverse effects.
As far as I can tell, very few of us here on WP don't see autism as a disability
at all. It seems to me that almost all of us see autism as a disability, or at least as entailing disability, although there's a range of opinion here on the degree to which we view autism in terms of the medical model vs. the social model of disability.
As far as I can tell, you "fit in" here just fine, to whatever extent any of us can be said to "fit in."
