Hi there! My name is Erik, I'm a 31 year old male from New York, and I've heard about WrongPlanet for years, but I haven't joined until today. I was diagnosed with autism at the age of two and it's impacted my life a lot, but I've remained happy by keeping myself occupied with things I like, like Pokemon, video games, drawing, writing stories, being involved in fandoms, and lots of other stuff. I decided to start using WrongPlanet because I wanted to interact with other autistic people, and I wanted to find a safe space to discuss things I like and somewhere where people treat each other with respect (something that the forums on DeviantArt lack). I have a DeviantArt account, a Fandom account, and a YouTube channel. I'm very glad to be new to the website. I hope to make lots of friends here!

Honestly, I feel like I should have joined a long time ago. For a long time I used the forums on DeviantArt to get socialization, but I didn't like the fact that the dA forums allow bullying, not to mention there's a lot of bigoted people there. I'm sure I'll have a much better time here.

Welcome to Wrong Planet. I never heard of DeviantArt before, so I looked it up. In their website DeviantArt describes themselves as:

Yes, Wrong Planet is an excellent forum.

And, yes, we are required to treat each other with respect here. If anyone gets personally nasty to you here, just click the "Report" button and it will likely be attended to within 24 hours. (But note that the current moderators live in Europe, so any complaints you make in the late afternoon or evening will likely not be seen until the next day.)

Suggestion, to help you make friends here on WP: Edit your profile to add a signature line that mentions your interests/hobbies and/or your most important personal values.

Anyhow, given your desire to interact with other autistic people, have you also looked on Meetup.com for local support groups for autistic adults?
