I wrote this for auntblabby as a birthday present yesterday. He enjoyed it so much he said I should share it on WP.
I call this "Rabbit Moon". It's about how I felt when I was in Japan and saw the full moon wishing I never had to return home.
Bright full rabbit moon.
Hiding in his pale hole
Among the dim flowering stars
Bright full rabbit moon
Pounding the rice cakes
Such a yummy treat for the gods
And the beautiful lady
Of the heavenly night sky
Winks to the cute little pet by her side
While she dances to the glittering lights
In the brisk cold breeze
Oh, how the night birds sing!
In this magnificent neon-lit Shangri-la
That I wish to never leave...
But the lady of the red dawn rises
Over the grandest of mountains
Burning brightly red
Through endless maple leaves
She shows us it's time to return
On our path over blue sea
and cold white snow
The grey eagle wings guide us home
From the land of the rising sun
But I have tasted that Ambrosia-flavor
Of the divine pale rabbit's rice cakes
And now I miss this beautiful land...
Whose beauty I had to forsake
From West to East I found true love
From sleepy stray cats on the streets
To the cawing of black ravens above
But as the rabbit runs down the hole
I must now depart and say goodbye.
Bright full rabbit moon
Vanishing over the winter sky
How I will miss you!
