There's an article about this in the local paper.. still doesn't say if it was a dump truck with the box up - seems it probably wasn't. Hard to tell if the thing that struck the overpass is part of the truck OR part of the load they were hauling.

Anyways, the interesting part is that this ONE COMPANY has been involved in SIX OVERPASS HITS in the LAST 2 YEARS in BC!!

They're about to get the largest fine any trucking company has ever gotten in the country for hitting overpasses.. still messed up they keep hitting them. Maybe they'll be fined out of existence or have licences pulled I dunno but apparently they operate 65 trucks. With a proven track record for these kinds of errors you'd think they wouldn't have their business licence renewed or something. Not sure how that would work, though.. as if the one guy can't get a licence then his brother or cousin will put it in their name and carry on kind of thing.

What a s**tshow. These bunch of idiots are embarrassing everyone here.

I bet the money the company is saving by hiring cheaper drivers is a lot less than their high insurance rates. This is probably a case of a company focusing on their immediate costs & not considering or caring about their longer term costs or if they will even be around in a year or so.

There's a better photo in the newspaper of some more metal braces on the back of a large low flat deck trailer - it was the load they were carrying that was too tall to fit under the overpass. Idiots. None of this stuff should be rocket surgery. Maybe they didn't want to lay the load down and strap it because it might have then become an over width wide load and required a pilot truck or two to transport and they didn't want the expense? And now they have this debacle instead... like I said; Idiots.

OR it might be that the risk goes to the DRIVER and the company doesn't give a flying f**k about taking risks that may only penalize or cost the Driver and not them.

Could be immigration reasons that drivers would take unnecessary risks for their employer to remain employed and not get bounced back to India should they lose their job. This is a very real possibility.. in which case I understand why a driver, experienced or not, would do what their boss told them to do. Do it or go back to India. "Ok, yes boss." and *prays for a safe outcome*

Well, we made it 4 days before some idiot smashed another high load on an overpass in the valley:

Also, I heard the company that did the one this thread was started over had their licence suspended.. so they brought trucks from one of their other companies registered in another city/Province to come take over and go their contract work here. Toothless suspension. Completely ridiculous that the same owners can still carry on running their operation under a different name, but I guess that’s common in trucking.. shut one down register the next.

It’s a different company that the above screenshot is from though. The repeat offender is Chohan.
