Does appearance really and always matter ?
I remember watching something where people were talking about this, and there was some woman who set up her own business and wanting to be a real life Barbie, who felt what we see on in the movies or whatever isn't a distorting process and even went on to say that ''At the end of the day, you don't want to be seeing ''ugly people'' adorning our screens.'' She also said that if you are unhappy about something whether its their nose, their bum etc then go and address it or stop whinging. But I seem to feel as though she is saying that as though its a very ''easy'' thing to do especially if someone wants to see a plastic surgeon and get something fixed about their body they don't like and pay lots of money for it.
I wouldn't say I'm that unhappy with how I look. I'm glad I'm not short and that I'm 6 feet tall or an inch over, although I sometimes I was a bit taller but again the height doesn't bother me really. I'm also not really muscular despite the fact I use on occasions some bar-bells and press-ups at home but I don't seem that fussed about looking like a body builder but I'm sort of glad that I don't look as skinny I used to be as a kid.
To an extent. Some people care. Some people will like you no matter what you look like. Some people won't like you even if you look good.
And it's not just what other people think of you, but also what you think of them and if they're a fit for you.
We don't have to be perfect or obsess over looks. Even the basics can go a long way. Good hygiene. Grooming. A skincare routine. A nice haircut/hair style. Clothes that are clean and fit you well.
But social skills are equally or more important (whether it's for career, friends, dating, etc). Looking better helps, but it's not a magic cheat code. Even if you look better, people aren't going to suddenly fawn over you and do all of the work. You have to put yourself out there, go to social events, meet people, etc.
