Exactly what the title says, my parents hate all things goth and thinks we are trash :cry:

And for anyone else who's wondering, from Urban Dictionary:

Scene + Emo = Scenemo.

You know you're old when English starts to sound like a foreign language. I only recently learned what it means when someone says something is the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time).

And adults thought we were weird when we were going around saying "awesome" and "excellent". At least now I know if someone says I'm the goat, it doesn't mean I eat tin cans or whatever. :lol:

Was it because they're "conservative" or because of particular ideas and stereotypes of that subculture?

The former can spell trouble depending on how tolerant they are.
The latter is simply a clash of opinions and preferences.

Hadn't you had some sort of rebellious phase?
Or questioned if your parents themselves have?

Were they 'afraid' that such interests may 'lead you to wrong crowds' or something?

This guy was combining "Goth" with "Screamo" (in the same performances) fifty years ago!

Do you mean 'not half' as opposed to...going whole hawg INTO scenemo?

Or do you mean 'not half' as opposed to...getting totally out of scenemo?

I mean, he was preceding anyone who followed who combined harsh vocals and spooky music, but he never really sounds like anything you'd call goth or anything you'd call emo or screamo.

He also got drunk, went full-ham on a re-recording and got pigeonholed as a result, whereas goth is the end result of sad guys who didn't have the right temperament to play punk trying to play sad reggae instead and screamo was art school kids trolling the 'tough guy hardcore' crowd by playing 'p**** s**t' that was heavier and more intense than the 'tough guy s**t'.
