if we were on Mars, how could AI find us? Is it 100% certain that we wouldn't be able to escape AI there? Why or why not?

That seems like a solid premise for The Old Baloney Factory (a.k.a., Science-Fiction).

yet another snarky response from you?

I should keep to Quora, rather than use this website.

Snarky?

No, it was a sincere suggestion.  You have a premise: "Humans leave Earth for Mars to escape rampant rogue AI, which somehow follows them".  You could probably write a trilogy on this premise alone.

By the way, Science-Fiction has often been referred to as "The Old Baloney Factory", especially during the Gernsback era.

In this case Fnord is probably right, plenty of science fiction written about how AI spreads in space.
traversing long distances makes sense to use AI to operate craft.

Colonization of other planets would REQUIRE the use of AI.

So fleeing to another planet to "escape AI" would be like "f*****g for virginity".

sorry, I was being hypersensitive and anxious. you're right, it wasn't snarky at all.

I'm just frustrated that I don't understand why there aren't simple options to fight the problem of widespread AI.

Although many people see it as a beautiful thing and not a danger...

simple things such as disabling electronics through short circuiting them possibly.

So you cant use the electronics ...so you cant navigate to, or survive on...Mars.

It would be interesting to see. Maybe AI could terraform The Red Planet for us.

Again a number of science programs predict AI controlled robots will do the bulk of the work.

Perhaps he's thinking of something like the short lived scifi series Firefly. It had lots of Western elements. Lots of various planets & such had gotten terraformed. The inner planets were colonized & given lots of resources & support. While the outer planets were given extremely little resources & people were put there & expected to fend for themselves. Some of the planets had lots of farming with crops & cattle & horses wdre used to get around & do farm work.

THIS actually makes sense. In fact IF we ever do colonize and "terraform" other planetary bodies in the solar system it would likely involve lots of computer guided hardware doing the physical work....landscaping, irrigation, mining, planting plants etc to pave the way for a small population of actual human migrants. Thus the human colonizers would rely on AI driven hardware. So how could that be a way to "escape AI".

It would as if the Pennsylvania Dutch in Lancaster County were to decide to "escape modern American high tech society" by ...all becoming astronauts and colonizing Mars...which would mandate that they would have to adopt high technology. A total contradiction. Lol!

Lets all become astronauts to Mars so that we...will have the freedom to keep on using horses-and-buggies and pushing horse driven plows!! !!

Artificial intelligence taking over the world doesn't scare me. It's natural stupidity, which *has* taken over the world, that terrifies me.
