It's a big problem here. My partner has real difficulty getting rid of anything. She can imagine a future use for every little item - and there often is but when the time comes to use it we can never find it because of all the other accumulated junk.
We have an attic that you can't get in, if you want to find anything up there its a nightmare. We have four garages all rammed with stuff. A lot of it is rubbish plain and simple. Some of it is 'projects' that never got done.
Every cupboard is filled with stuff that we never use and the stuff we do use is just out around the house because there's nowhere to put it away.
It seems like every day more stuff comes in and nothing ever goes out.
I don't really attach any emotional importance to stuff. Other than my books, my computer and my record player I would happily burn the lot of it and start again. I feel the accumulation of stuff as a crippling weight but to my partner it feels more like a security blanket.
