Why does the 12h clock start at 12:00, not 0:00?

TBH,I always assumed it's because they didn't want a clock where it was one revolution per day and didn't want to a second number to represent midnight.

If there's anything complicated it's the 12am versus 12 pm being kind of reversed in terms of that one moment.

I agree, although I can see why the 12 hour clock was used in the days of analog clocks, since 24 doesn't divide evenly into 60.
