Every relationship I've had was initiated by the other (female) person. I don't initiate well.

have you ever had a woman ask you out?

Isn't that what I wrote? Yes, many times.

That's just not true. Women ask men out all the time. It's often a bit less straightforward.

Are you saying I'm lying? I'm not.

It does happen. Maybe not to you, but that's another issue.

The closest I came to being asked on a date, by a woman, was a young woman told her roommate she wanted a date. But the roommate arranged the date (a double date to a cinema). In all fairness, it wasn’t until I was in my late 20s that I managed to ask a woman on a proper date that actually led to something, and then because we both got drunk.

I think us autistics may be more likely to get relationships by unconventional ways than NTs are. The typical ways may be less likely to work for us since they're dependent on being social. Whereas we may shine more in select smaller environments & typical social norms like guys making the first move may be be less likely to apply.

Upon reconsideration, only once have I been picked up that was in any way obvious.
(She jumped out from under a bench as I was about to walk past)
Although, I suppose some of the others may have been more devious than I thought.

I have to know the story here. She popped out from under a bench? What was she doing under a bench?

To answer the original question, though, so I'm not just being nosy: I met both my exes through comic book fan sites.

Ok... It was a crowded gig at the Prince of Wales in St. Kilda. (IIRC I went to see the Celibate Rifles) the room had benches along 3 walls and several tables towards the door. I walked in and turned right, moving along the bench circumnavigating the crowd, towards the mosh pit.
All the benches had a few people under them avoiding being bumped.

Meri shuffled forward and stood up in front of me, grinning. I suspect she was the first younger woman I'd ever hooked up with. She is the reason I moved out of the city and ended up in a lesbian community. We later moved a few towns away and got a third flatmate, Scott.
The three of us started learning guitar to form our own band and Scott became my best friend,
then one day they told me they were running off with each other, so I lost my partner and my best friend simultaneously.
I went to a party intending to get blind drunk.
Somehow, I couldn't. I drank 3/4 bottle of scotch and a slab of beer less 2 cans, outlasted the party, and won $50 playing cards next door.
My current partner was the rebound girl about a week later, and we're still together after 35 years.

^Thank you! That story was even more delightful than I was expecting. I'm glad it all worked out in the end and you were able to find your current partner.

Earlier I heard the George Strait song, Check Yes Or No (I heard it a bunch of times but not recently) & it reminded me that when I was in school I heard about girls passing notes to guys they liked & I never heard about guys giving love notes. That behavior seems kind of Aspieish to me

I met ex boyfriend at a party several years ago and we were friends for a few years first.
