I'd like to do a survey on sleeping habits, specifically napping. If it does affect your nighttime sleep please post a reply and explain how it affect your sleep.

I take a nap because I wake up in the night. I wake up in the night because I take a nap. It's a vicious cycle.

I try to avoid falling asleep before 9 pm or else I have difficulty getting to sleep.
Z class sleepers don't help much if I have napped.
Staying asleep is another matter as I rarely sleep more than 4 hours these days.
I will sleep less hours if I have napped and it's already bad enough waking at 4. (And having to stay in bed until 8 as these hours are my partner's best chance of sleeping)

No, I'd love to nap if I could but I can't even manage to sleep at night with sleep meds.
I basically don't sleep at all.

I don't like to nap. I don't like the need to sleep at all. Sleep itself is very disruptive to me.

Because it's no different from waking up from any form of sleep and it is painful for me.

Also naps are disruptive to my already unstable sleep schedule.

A 10 minute nap could either extend to 10 hrs or won't let me sleep all night or day.
Already making my already unpredictable sleep schedule more unpredictable.

I have a hard time falling asleep so I don't nap because I can't fall asleep at random times during the day, it's hard enough for me to fall asleep at bedtime. I actually have a fairly severe sleep disorder and my sleep time slides later and later every day until I have to reset it by staying up all night and into the next day so I can fall asleep at a kind of normal time, but this is very hard, doesn't always work or ever work easily, and it wears me out. It's pretty much the bane of my existence.

Same. ^
I have sleep disorders too. Even when I'm asleep, I'm not really asleep the way most people are.
I don't even do the "restorative" stage of sleep.

Sorry you're struggling too, bee33.

I don't nap either. My sleep isn't great and it's hard to stick to a normal schedule. Although I do seem to have enough energy to last all day. Occasionally I might nod off a bit during meditation.

I have bad association with napping. I didn't need to nap since I was a toddler but was forced with take nap after lunch at daycare. There was nothing to do and I had to pretend to sleep because the teachers were watching. There wasn't enough knowledge or thoughts in my little brain back then to do much thinking either. It was very dull. :(
