heya I am writing this trying to recover from sensory pain/burnout/overstimulation. i pushed myself to do too many things and I went on a date with someone who talked at me for 5 hours. I get overstimulated really easily from people talking to me these days and I have ended up doing this thing with my housemate where I wear a hat when I can't talk and don't want them to talk to me. Today is the 4th day of shutdown/overstimualtion. I have to slow myself down on purpose to rest and breathe slowly and not listen to anything or watch videos, just reading a book and now typing g this I guess. I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience of sensory pain, noises becoming so painful in my nervous system throughout my body feels like I have been running for hours? And on fire I need to be under weighted blanket and in the dark room.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It sounds like you have figured out some ways to manage it. Take care of yourself as much as you can.

I can have something very similar happen to me as well. I have to keep myself extremely socially isolated because it can happen often. I hope you recover quickly.

Yep, absolutely get that. It’s actually fantastic that you have the whole hat on/off thing though. I might pirate that…

Anyway, I personally don’t have those exact feelings but do have physical sensations, like light headedness and burning skin.

It’s also a shame that it’s taking a while for things to get back to normal in your headspace, though I would absolutely be the same if someone spoke at me for so long!

Hope you start to feel better soon, sounds like you’re doing good work though :D
