I dont think that it was "banned" here in the states. It was just a "one hit wonder" hit that ran its course.

Apparently the lyrics use "becoming Japanese" as a metaphor for ...being an outcast or something. So then I guess that it would technically be "racist".

I'm sure Japanese males wouldn't find the metaphor of having their identity associated with being an social outcast with white women particularly flattering.
